In Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University the work with internally displaced persons is well-organised.
So, with the support of Lutsk City Council Department of Youth and Sports university lecturers and students conduct cognitive and developmental classes for children who had to move to Lutsk because of russian federation aggression. On the basis of the University there was organised a club “Family Leisure” which is attended by children and their mothers from Chernihiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk regions who are currently living in the dormitories of Lesya Ukrainka University. Lecturers and students of Institute of Physical Education and Health work in the club.
In the gyms lecturers and students of the Institute work with children and adults who were forced to move to Volyn. Trainings take place every Monday and Wednesday from 16 to 18.
According to Dean of Institute of Physical Education and Health Vasyl Pantik, trainings are attended by approximately 15 children who can socialize with their peers and teachers and have fun.
“Children play different games and somehow we try to touch upon school curriculum. Lecturers and students of our faculty are involved in this work”, said Vasyl Pantik.
The dean explained that currently students are involved in their pedagogical practice, but not in face-to-face mode due to the fact that school studying process is carried out online. Therefore, the quality of students training has improved and children have got the chance for development.
Full-time third-year students of specialties 017 Physical Culture and Sport and 014 Secondary Education (Physical Culture) are involved in work with children. They improve their practical skills in the “Family Leisure” club.
“Cheerful Engine” accompanied by music, prepared by Maria Fesyk and Anastasiia Mekisa, relays by Vladyslav Sinkovsky and Roman Havryliuk and other interesting exercises give the opportunity to improve professional teaching knowledge and skills, acquired by students during previous years of their study.
“It is impossible to have practice in schools now, so we work with children who are dislocated. We made up different exercises and relays to provide them with some physical activity. We are doing our practice and helping them, so we are both students and volunteers”, said Mariia Fesyk, a student who works with children.
During the lessons parents can attend to their own matters and even have some rest. During air alerts children can stay in the shelter.
In addition, the University deals with the development of dislocated children who played football at home or who want to take it up. Young athletes can improve their skills at the University stadium. University lecturer Roman Ivanitsky works with children.
Besides, children are trained by the coaches of “Volyn” Football Club, which the University has been collaborating with. The club has renewed the training process.
“We started to renew our training process and we expect to have much more work after holidays. Now we want to gather children, check who stay in Lutsk and enroll new members. We also invite children from other regions of our country who had to come to Volyn because of the war to join trainings”, said Oleksandr Kurinov, the coach of footballers born in 2012
