On January 29, Lesya Urainka Volyn National University sport complex hosted Rector’s volleyball cup “Abiturient–2022” competition among men teams.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector Anatolii Tsios, the Vice Rector for Educational Work and Communication Nataliia Blahovirna, the Chairman of Volyn Regional Council, the Chairman of Volyn Regional Volleyball Federation Hryhorii Nedopad, the representative of the Ihor Palytsia’s “Tilky razom” Foundation Dmytro Piddubnyi, the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Health Vasyl Pantik, and other honourable guests.
Sports were mentioned by Anatolii Tsios to be among the University’s priorities. The rector spoke about the achievements and victories of our athletes, in particular, mentioning Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University’s high position at last year's University Games.
Hryhorii Nedopad revealed ambitious plans for the development of volleyball in Volyn. Men athletes were encouraged by him to look up to the women team “Volyn-University-Regional Sports School for Children and Juniors”, succeeding in the Super League.
Dmytro Piddubnyi, the representative of Ihor Palytsia’s “Tilky razom” Foundation, congratulated the volleyball players on the competition opening and encouraged them to play more sports and lead active lifestyles.
As a result of the intense competition, the first place was taken by the team of Complex Children and Youth Sports School of Lutsk City Council №1 defeating the representatives of the University in the final. Volleyball players from Kovel and Ratne fought for the “bronze”. In the final game, the Kovel team succeeded.
All participants received valuable rewards, souvenirs, medals and cups. In addition, the best players were awarded by the organisers of the competition for gaming performances.
“I sincerely congratulate you, you are all winners. I invite you to our University. We will be glad to see you,” Rector Anatolii Tsios summed up the competition.
