On September 12th, in Lypne countryside the 5th patriotic festival “Kryiivka Pertsia” (“Perets’ Dugout”) was held.

The event was named after one of the last leaders of Ukrainian Insurgent Army, Vasyl Chepeliuk, who lived under the alias “Perets” (“Pepper”). The location was not accidental either, as not far from it was placed the Perets’ actual dugout vault.

VNU Rector Anatolii Tsios took floor at the ceremonial opening of the event. “Thank you for caring about the great history of Ukraine, and the heroic acts that our youth are always to remember”, the Rector said. He also mentioned that Lypne countryside is a place of birth of VNU Vice Rector for Educational Work and Recruitment, Professor Yurii Hromyk.

Yurii Hromyk was the next to speak. As he said, “I belong to local people not only because I was born here, but also because I deeply sympathize with this area and the people who live here. Here, they never forget about the heroic and tragic moments of our history, they keep and cherish our traditional culture. It is very pleasant to know that people here respect the traditions and the insurgent movement”.
