Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University Campus received humanitarian aid from the charity foundation “Rokada” for the families of internally displaced persons who were in difficult life circumstances during the martial law period and were forced to leave their homes and stay in the University Campus. The foundation is an executive partner of the UN High Commissioner Office for internally displaced persons. It transferred new pillows, blankets and mattresses (67 pieces in total).
It should be noted that our university graduate, Doctor of Philosophy Olena Kuzmych, a social worker at the “Rokada” charity foundation, patronized the delivery of humanitarian aid for Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.

We would like to remark that this is only the first part of UNHCR assistance for displaced persons who escaped to Volyn Region from the cities with the incessant warfare.
In addition, the representatives of the charitable foundation “Rokada” in Volyn Region distributed food kits for internally displaced persons from project partners NEEKA and HUAWEI. The distribution of products took place in one of the dormitories of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.

The Charity Foundation “Rokada” was founded in 2003. At the beginning, the main priority of the foundation was supporting refugees and those people who need shelter, as well as mobilizing the refugee community and promoting their integration into Ukrainian society. However, with the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the vector of the foundation assistance changed. And now it is about humanitarian aid to internally displaced Ukrainians in the communities that took them. The foundation also provides psychological, legal and social support.
The foundation activities are:
– social assistance and support for internally displaced persons and their children;
– legal assistance in solving social issues;
– support of centers for internally displaced persons in communities;
– protection of the most vulnerable categories: newcomers, children, women, people with chronic diseases, etc.;
– the humanitarian component of the charity foundation “Rokada” is aimed at improving the material and living conditions of internally displaced persons.
We recall that internally displaced persons (IDPs) are people who left their homes to escape from danger, did not cross the international border, but remained on the territory of their native country. IDPs are under the legal protection of the government. They have all rights and protections under international human rights law.
IDPs in communities can seek the assistance or legal advice of the charity foundation’s workers and communities in different parts of Ukraine may be eligible for humanitarian aid.
