A host of famous representatives of Volyn beau monde and distinguished guests were attracted to "Lutsk" art gallery’s sugar-sweet homely aura. Accompanied by melodious Kvitka Tsisyk’s recordings and Myroslav Skoryk’s exquisite lyrical compositions, a vibrant artistic event was held notable for Lutsk and beyond.

It is a story about the opening of the exhibition of paintings by the People's Artist of Ukraine, Professor of Fine Arts of Lesya Ukrainka University Tetiana Galkun. The event was dedicated to her 75th anniversary, the 50th anniversary of creative activity and the 30th anniversary of teaching career. This turned into a veritable kaleidoscope of happy dates, all the festivities happening on Tetiana’s day.

Tetiana Galkun’s works seem to be a sensual alternative to a pleasant company. Each painting was an attempt to evoke childhood, memories of the fragrant, freshly cut mushrooms, the serene flowing river, and the wet foliage, on the verge of shedding a dew droplet...

The introductory speech was given by the Head of the Department of Culture of Lutsk City Council Tetiana Hnativ to present the artist with an Honorary Certificate from the Mayor Igor Polishchuk: “Today is a special day for many reasons. And one of these pleasant reasons is Tetiana Galkun. This person always radiates joy and inexhaustible positivity. Not only is she kissed by God but eager to share her talent. And this is a complete marvel nowadays.”

A delegation from Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University also visited the festive occasion. The Rector Anatolii Tsios, the Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Communication Nataliia Blahovirna, the Rector’s Assistant Tetiana Rospopa, the Dean of the Faculty of Culture and Arts Vitalii Okhmaniuk, the Head of the Department of Fine Arts Olga Kaleniuk and the Associate Professor Tetiana Prokopovych congratulated the jubilee.

“We are extremely lucky to have Tetiana Dmytrivna working for us,” Anatolii Tsios emphasised. “She is a unique example of success for the students. They adopt the positivity and have an opportunity to follow her infinite professionalism. Besides, the interior of the main building of our University is decorated with the paintings of Tetiana Galkun's mentees. I am grateful to you for your work and huge contribution to the development of art education in Volyn.”

After the speeches, another very pleasant surprise was unveiled to the audience. To rapturous applause, the Rector of the University presented the artist with the University’s highest award, the Golden Badge.

The artist response was deeply heartfelt: “Once, I started a movement among my students to paint portraits of the region’s celebrities. And it has become a popular trend. Therefore, it is Anatolii Tsios who is my next model. You are a progressive person, so we will be trying to incorporate this idea.”

The event ended with an informal discussion on the artistic perspectives and a group photo.
