Volyn Archeological expedition of the Institute of Archeology of the NASU together with the Guard Archaeological Service of Ukraine and Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University are at the final stage of the first-order archeological studies of Radzylyliv Castle in Olyka.
Anatolii Tsos, the Rector of the University, Natalia Blahovirna, the Pro-Rector for educational work and communications, Yaroslav Yarosh, the Dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and National Security came to look at the current situation. Our lecturer Viktor Baiuk, the Head of the Volyn archeological expedition of the Institute of Archeology of the NASU, the Head of the Volyn Subdivision of the Archaeological Community of Ukraine was pleased to conduct a guided tour.
It is worth mentioning that all the restoration work of Radzyvyliv Castle started within the programme “Great Restoration”, supported by the President of Ukraine. Students of the History, Political Science and National Security Faculty are involved in these archaeological studies as part of the dual education curriculum introduced by the university.
What has been already explored are the upper areas, the inner courtyards and two bastions’ dungeons; curtain walls between the bastions have been paved and a vast collection of some portable archaeological items has been gathered.
