Anatolii Tsos, Rector of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, was on a working visit to Poland. During the trip, Head of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University held a number of efficient meetings and participated in significant events.

In particular, signing a cooperation agreement between the Lesya Ukrainka University and the Silesian University of Technology (Politechnika Śląska) was effectuated. Within the scope of cooperation, both institutions of higher education will conduct joint educational and scientific research, academic exchanges, cooperation in the field of administrative management, and more.

Also, during his stay at the University of Silesia (Katowice), Anatolii Tsos took part in the ceremony of awarding the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa to the Nobel laureate, Professor Brian Kobilka. Brian Kobilka is a biochemist, Professor at Stanford University, laureate of the 2012 Nobel Prize in Chemistry «For Research on GPCRs».


In addition, Anatolii Tsos had a chance to communicate with the Nobel laureate. Rector of Silesia University of Technology, Professor Arkadiusz Menzyk, Ukrainian students, employees of higher educational institutions and the Ukrainian community took part in the meeting. Anatolii Tsos thanked the United States of America and Poland in the presence of honourable guests for their support and assistance provided for Ukraine.

It should be noted that during the meeting it was possible to discuss the perspective of Brian Kobylka holding a lecture for students of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. Anatolii Tsos presented the outstanding scientist with an embroidered shirt, and Brian Kobilka, in return, handed Rector a check for $5,000 to be used to start an educational and scientific laboratory.


The trip to Slupsk turned out to be productive as well. In this city, Rector met with the students of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University studying at the Pomeranian University under the Erasmus+ and academic exchange programmes. Anatolii Tsos noted the professional educational process at the higher eductional institution and thanked the Polish side for benevolent attitude towards our students. Head of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University also joined the celebrations on the occasion of the Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk receiving a university status.
