A seminar-training on civil defense for students of the specialty 071-Accounting and Taxation

An integral component of ensuring the quality of the educational process is the involvement of practicing professionals in the formation of a safe educational environment. Therefore, in view of the needs of today dictated by wartime, an applied seminar-training for students of the first (Bachelor's) and second (Master's) levels of the specialty 071 Accounting and Taxation was held at university. The training considered exceedingly important and topical issues dealing with civil protection and behavior in life-and-health-threatening situations. Ihor Honcharov, a well-known professional in his field, explosives-specialist with many years of experience in the Volyn regional service of forensic medical examination, and now the head of the educational and scientific forensic laboratory operating at the University, and a specialist in civil protection, conducted this training.

The training-instruction event was attended by undergraduate and graduate students of the specialty 071 Accounting and Taxation, scientific and pedagogical staff of the department, and associate professor Myroslava Kulinych, the guarantor of the Educational Program “Accounting and taxation”, and candidate of economic sciences. It was held in the educational and scientific forensic laboratory of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. This training was organized in accordance with the letter of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 04/22/2022 No. 1/4408-22 and the Recommendations on conducting instructions with applicants of vocational pre-university and higher education institutions on the issues of avoiding exposure to mines,  explosive objects, and behavior in an emergency situation.

In the forensic laboratory, where the training with students and teachers of the Department of Accounting and Taxation was held, there is a sufficient amount of visual materials. The students of the Faculty of Economics and Management had a perfect opportunity to familiarize themselves with depleted samples of cartridges, mines, grenades, bombs, etc.

Ihor Honcharov, the head of the university's forensic laboratory, said: “The war is ongoing, and people should know what cluster bombs are and what they look like since they cannot be demined. A sample from Borodianka is presented in the forensic laboratory. We also have fragments of BM-30 “Smerch” and BM-21 "Grad" multiple rocket systems and remnants of grenades from the combat zone.”

In addition, he familiarized those present with the procedure for using fire extinguishers in case of fire signals in University buildings or dormitories. The trainer introduced various kinds of fire extinguishers and demonstrated how they work. He reported that at the University, we use foam and powder fire extinguishers.

The students and teaching staff of the Faculty of Economics and Management are sincerely grateful to Ihor Horbachov for valuable and useful instructions and for important and helpful advice. In the conditions and realities of martial law and Russian full-scale invasion, this preparation is definitely relevant.
