Faculty of Philology and Journalism hosted an exhibition by Tetyana Tokareva “The Famous and Favourite”. The artist’s canvases feature people from Volyn celebrated in Ukraine and the world. The event took place on November 20, 2024 as part of the “History is Made by Brave Hearts” educational and artistic project, organised by Department of History and Culture of the Ukrainian Language.

The author of the exhibition, Tetyana Tokareva, is an artist, a lecturer at Volodymyr Agathangel Krymskyi Vocational Pedagogical College, the founder and curator of the “Figli-Migli” art studio in Volodymyr. According to her, the watercolors works are special. The series began with the portraits of Lesya Ukrainka and Agathangel Krymskyi.

“These are not all portraits. The series of works is very large, but we still have many ideas with Iryna Levchuk. These works are my response to the Revolution of Dignity. I am very pleased to be in this atmospheric hall, to watch my works together with music and singing,” the artist noted.

Rector Anatolii Tsos noted that Volyn has something to be proud of, because many famous people were born on our land. “We also have something to be proud of in terms of educational tradition. It was a wise decision to name our University in honour of Lesya Ukrainka. I am proud of our students and employees. I sincerely thank Tetyana Tokareva and all the organisers of this wonderful event. It depends only on us which institution we study at and which country we live in,” Anatolii Tsos noted.

Head of Department of History and Culture of the Ukrainian Language Iryna Levchuk said that the idea of the “History is Made by Brave Hearts” project arose from the opportunity to present portraits of famous Volyn residents, the author of which is Tetyana Tokareva, at the Faculty of Philology and Journalism. The event was timed to the Day of Freedom and Dignity. “The brave hearts of today are the boys and girls defending us at the frontline. Thanks to the cooperation with the 100th Brigade, we managed to invite the servicepersons defending Ukraine for a day to our event,” Iryna Levchuk revealed some organisational secrets.

The presentation of the exhibition was accompanied by the artistic performances of the students, lecturers and graduates of the University. The highlight was the performance of the “Luciano” male vocal quartet presenting a collection of rebel songs. By the way, two members of the quartet are servicemen of the “Voron” battalion of unmanned systems of the 100th Brigade. The “Dyvostruny” trio of bandurists and the “Swing” orchestra also presented their performances.

The serviceman Vladyslav Semeniuk, who performed a patriotic composition as part of the “Luciano” collective, also addressed the audience: “We have a great honour to represent our battalion and brigade. Thank you all for your support, donations and assistance. Without you, it would be more difficult for us. Thank you also for such events with which we can remember civilian life. "

At the end, a collective interactive picture was created to record the history of this day, and a minute of silence followed to honour the fallen Heroes.
