Today we want to continue the story of our graduates and their activities during hard times for Ukraine. We managed to talk to Hryhorii Nedopad, the Chairman of Volyn Regional Council, who is a graduate of the Faculty of Geography of the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
– Hryhorii Viktorovych, tell us about the situation with forced evacuees in Volyn?
– As of March 26, almost one and a half thousand forcibly evacuated people were resettled in Volyn. Internally displaced persons were provided with food and basic necessities. Currently, there are 7,000 vacancies for settlements in the region. If there is a need for a place to settle due to urgent evacuation, call: 066 657 09 15, (0332) 778 211.

– Did many children move to Volyn? How is the learning process going?
– 1,800 children who came from the active hostilities zone joined the educational process in Volyn. Since the beginning of the war, our region has received more than 30,000 internally displaced persons. For most of them, Volyn is a transit region, but many people stay, including children. 1,800 students from other regions are now studying remotely with us. At the same time, about 20% of Volyn schoolchildren left the region. The majority of them also receive distance education.

– In your opinion, what is the role of universities in this difficult time for Ukraine?
– The activity of universities in the wartime is very important. It is valuable that the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University actively supports students from other higher education institutions and helps them to continue their studies. There is also significant support for launching Ukrainian language courses for internally displaced persons. I am confident that the joint and aligned work of all Volyn institutions will bring us sooner to the victory.

– Thank you for your work, may Ukraine win.
– We continue to work on a constant basis to provide our guys at the forefront with everything they need. So that our defenders can have all reliable protective equipment, good food, and necessary medicines. Humanitarian cargoes from many countries of the world are sent to the soldiers of the Armed Forces, and to the "hot" spots of the country, where people suffer from massive shelling and bombing, the lack of essentials. The whole world is united today for the cause of support for Ukraine, assistance to our fighters combating against Russian aggression, defending from the enemy not only Ukraine but the whole Europe.
